leadership saves animal lives in the streets of Playa del Carmen
leadership saves animal lives in the streets of Playa del Carmen
we are working with authorities, communities and a local animal welfare organisation in playa del carmen to help their teams take care of local animals.
Problem
The animals in Playa del Carmen needed care, but resources were sparse. The community wanted to help, but most local animal rescue groups were disorganised, and authorities lacked the skills and knowledge to address animal welfare issues.
Solution
When looking to engage on the ground with community animal care organisations in the region, rather than starting from scratch, we partnered with the best organisation we could find: Coco’s Animal Welfare.
Through this partnership, we’ve built a state-of-the-art clinic, stocked it with medicine and established veterinary protocols. We’ve enabled Coco’s to treat community animals brought in from all over the state in a safe and sterile environment.
Our work has since expanded in the region. We have trained local authorities, veterinarians and organisations on how best to rescue, handle and treat animals, and help them prepare for natural disasters before they strike.
Through our “Casitas Azules” project, which translates to “little blue houses,” we keep humans and animals safe in Mayan communities where jaguars need to be humanely deterred.
More than 1,000 homeless dogs and cats have been adopted.
every problem has a solution, every solution needs support.
The problems we face are urgent, complicated, and resistant to change. Real solutions demand creativity, hard work and involvement from people like you.
