world youth art contest 2020
world youth art contest 2020
Thank you to everyone who submitted art for this year's international youth art contest!
In coordination with World Wildlife Day’s theme “Sustaining all life on earth”, the art contest focused on biodiversity and aimed to help youth understand the critical role ecosystems and animals play in the health of the planet. Artists were encouraged to depict animals in their natural ecosystems and habitats to show the importance of protecting biodiversity.
Australian youth artist Tiarn Garland, 15, was named the winner of the World Wildlife Day 2020 International Youth Art contest. Her art depicted a koala on the foreground, clinging to a lone branch as a not-so-distant bushfire ravages a forest in the background. The detailed animal and its lifelike gaze struck the jury, which chose it as this year’s winner, among a high volume of quality entries to this year’s contest.
Check out the other twelve finalists from each age group, 4-18.
