Catherine Bearder

Catherine Bearder is a former Member of the European Parliament with a vast amount of experience in local and international governance. She also has held several positions in the voluntary sector as chair, governor and president for several charities.
Catherine has a lifelong passion and understanding for environmental protection, having helped with zoological studies in Southern Africa on hyaena and bushbabies, she has seen first-hand the destruction and erosion of the natural environment.
In her role in the European Parliament as well as leading cross party groups, notably the MEPs for Wildlife team, her focus was tackling illegal wildlife trade and she was the Parliament’s author on the EU Action Plan against Wildlife Trafficking.
Catherine is also an active member of the EU/ACP Joint Parliamentary Assembly, working with elected members and ministers from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, where she has championed environmental protection measures amongst other issues.
