2012 SOTW Azores research USA cruise report
The IFAW research vessel Song of the Whale (SOTW) left the Azores at the beginning of May bound for the north-east coast of the USA, travelling via Bermuda and arriving in Boston at the beginning of June. The aims of this research passage were to further examine baleen whale distribution and vocalizations during the Atlantic crossing and to explore beaked whale presence and distribution over oceanic seamounts and offshore abyssal waters. The Song of the Whale team conducted 20 days of research effort between 6th of May and 1st of June.
