Carbon footprint report 2022
Carbon footprint report 2022
In alignment with our mission, IFAW is dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and embedding sustainability principles throughout the organization’s operations. This includes measuring and reporting on the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from IFAW facilities and operations to the UN Climate Neutral Now platform. The Carbon Footprint Report presents a summary of emissions during the 2022 calendar year.
In line with global best practices on reporting emissions, our methodology seeks to capture, as much as possible, the downstream carbon emissions generated through IFAW activities, including our supporter mailings. We continue to work with our mailing vendors to reduce our environmental footprint. In 2022, IFAW mailed fewer direct mail packages as we refined our contact strategies to be as efficient as possible. This builds on efforts in previous years to reduce our mailing footprint through reduced weight per mailing and use of local vendors. We also continue to source renewable energy in our facilities wherever possible and install renewable facilities in field sites in which we operate around the world, as part of our work to secure carbon-rich landscapes that serve as wildlife habitats.
As we have done in previous years, IFAW has fully offset our residual carbon emissions from 2022 by supporting approved offset projects on the UN Climate Neutral Now platform.
Every problem has a solution, every solution needs support.
The problems we face are urgent, complicated, and resistant to change. Real solutions demand creativity, hard work, and involvement from people like you.
