world wildlife day international youth art contest 2023
Calling all young artists!
IFAW is excited to announce the 5th edition of World Wildlife Day (WWD) 2023 International Youth Art Contest in partnership with the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
2023 World Wildlife Day theme:
“Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation”
As we face a time of mass species extinction, partnerships and joint action are even more critical to saving thousands of species. This year’s art contest will focus on people working together to protect and conserve endangered and threatened species—from community members to scientists, to wildlife groups, organisations, and governments.
The contest is open to youth artists aged 4-18. We ask that participants choose a species whose survival has been assisted by people working together in partnership to prevent its extinction. This is an opportunity for youth to not only learn more about animals but also the power of people working together for a common cause. Once the artist has decided on a species, they may depict it as an individual animal portrait or in its native habitat.
All contestants have from Monday, 9 January through Monday, 6 February 2023, to submit their work. All entries must be submitted electronically. The winning entry will be presented at the official WWD event on 3 March 2023.
In 2013, the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 3 March as World Wildlife Day, an annual celebration to raise awareness of the world’s wild fauna and flora.
