the court of appeal upholds the ivory act

James Sawyer, Regional Director of IFAW UK, said: “The decision by the Court of Appeal to uphold the Ivory Act is a testament to its importance in protecting the thousands of elephants threatened by the ivory trade.
“This is the second time that Defra has had to defend the Ivory Act against the interests of a few antique dealers, and we praise the Court’s decision to value the lives of elephants above the interests of those who want to profit from ivory.
“The Ivory Act has been delayed for long enough and we look forward to working with the Government to bring it into force and close down our ivory market once and for all.”
