Roundtable on underwater noise from shipping

On 13 March 2025, IFAW organised a roundtable on underwater noise hosted by CMA CGM at their headquarters in Marseille. The discussions focused on latest developments and next steps related to underwater noise at the IMO and European Union levels, the study of the acoustic signature of commercial vessels, and the role of ports in reducing underwater noise from shipping. Bringing together more than 50 stakeholders from the maritime sector and national authority representatives, the event allowed rich and constructive conversations among all participants.
